EuroBLECH 2024 in Hannover was a significant show for Chinese manufacturers. Here are the key takeaways:
**Chinese brands at EuroBLECH:**
ACCURL, Durma (Turkish but significant China presence), and several newer entrants had prominent booths. The quality of presentations has improved significantly compared to 5 years ago.
**Key Technology Trends:**
1. **Automation integration** — Every major brand was showcasing press brake automation cells with robotic part handling. TRUMPF and AMADA set the benchmark, but Chinese brands are closing the gap at 40-60% lower price points.
2. **Connected machines** — IoT connectivity and remote diagnostics are now standard offerings, not premium add-ons.
3. **Energy efficiency** — Servo-electric press brakes are gaining traction for thin-gauge work. Several Chinese manufacturers showed competitive servo-electric models.
4. **Collaborative robots** — Cobot integration for press brake tending was a major theme. Lower barrier to entry for SMEs.
**Market outlook:** The European market is increasingly open to Chinese machinery, particularly in the €80k-€200k segment where the value proposition is compelling.

Good summary. I'd add that the quality gap between top Chinese brands and European mid-tier has narrowed considerably. The main remaining differentiators are:
1. Software ecosystem — European brands have more mature CAD/CAM integration
2. Service network density in Europe — still a significant advantage for TRUMPF/AMADA/Bystronic
3. Resale value — European machines still hold value better
For a new buyer focused on ROI, Chinese machines in the €100-150k range are genuinely compelling. For a shop that needs guaranteed 24-hour service response, European brands are still worth the premium.
